How to help your child at home

There may be times where you are concerned about how independently your child is able to access the toilet, appropriate for their age, or where you have concerns about their bowel and bladder needs. The Healthy Child Service or your GP may be a source of advice. We have also found the following information to be beneficial for some of our children and young people. Please do speak to a member of staff if you would like to discuss any concerns.

Nimbus Care Bowel and Bladder Workshops
Information about drop in sessions run by Nimbus Care.

ERIC Charity Website
Charity with information and guidance about toileting issues such as bedwetting and general bladder / bowel health.

There are some times when we might worry that a child has a difficulty in verbalising what they want to say.  We may refer to this as a stammer or a stutter.  The following links and strategy pages may be helpful if you think this is true for your child.

If you would like to speak to your child’s class teacher about your concerns and the strategies we all find to be most beneficial, then please do not hestitate to contact school.

The Sleep Charity
Having a good night of sleep can be crucial to your child’s wellbeing and education. The sleep charity can offer support on this.

There may be times when, as a parent, you want to explore some concerns you have and are unsure where to start.  These concerns may be founded in the development of a specific skill and how you can support at home, or may be centred on accessing a specific team who can help you understand the needs of your child further.

We have collated some links that have been found to be helpful.  The following links will take you to external websites which might be beneficial to you.
